Understanding global education
What is Global Education?
Often when I broach the topic of Global Education I'm given a skeptical look. I can see friends bracing themselves to hear me tell the virtues of travel, or the importance of exchange programs and charity work /study tours. And while I’m sure these opportunities are life-changing for those who have the means, they’re not the sum total of what Global Education is about. Global Education, in my way of thinking, is about global perspectives; it’s about recognizing the interconnectedness of all people and valuing all cultures. Global Education is the opposite of American Exceptionalism. Global Education is interrelated to Cultural Competence and Education Equity.

How do you teach global competence?” To answer this I’ve provided links to several PDF publications in the form of the orange button boxes. I’ve also provided links in the form of black button boxes to several videos of real teachers fostering global competency in their class rooms.
